Ork Great Gargant

Ork Gargants are the largest land-based Ork fighting machines. Each Gargant is a huge towering war machine of awesome destructive power comparable in size and power to Warlord Titans. It is also a mechanical, fighting, firebelching idol in the image of the Ork war gods. The machines are served by a living crew of Orks and Gretchin, stoking the boilers and loading the guns in the Gargant’s turrets.

This piece is a stylised ZBrush sculpt of an Ork Great Gargant, created with 3D printing in mind. The focus was on bold, readable forms and exaggerated proportions, leaning into chunky silhouettes and heavily battered, ramshackle armour plating. Surface wear and asymmetry were pushed to reinforce the crude, brutal Ork aesthetic.

The design draws heavily from the Warhammer 40k RT-era Orks, particularly inspired by the work of Paul Bonner, whose take on Orks has always stood out to me as definitive. There’s also a touch of Howl’s Moving Castle in the overall feel a sense of lumbering machinery stitched together from mismatched parts. It was a lot of fun to work on.

I might make another version of this sometime in the future as an Unreal scene.
